Corruption and greed behind the music ban – 2face Idibia blasts BON

African Queen crooner, Innocent Ujah Idibia, popularly known as 2face has reacted to the recent ban on songs by artistes who are registered under Copyright Society of Nigeria (COSON) by the Broadcasting Organization of Nigeria (BON).

There has been an ongoing ‘war’ between COSON and BON over compensation of intellectual property. BON is accusing COSON of arbitrarily imposing and concocting fees which are not based on any agreeable and verifiable tariff and standards.

BON in a press release, announcing the ban said, ”  “No person or organization, particularly a collection society such as COSON has a monopoly of authority over any other…IBAN and BON have the utmost respect for Nigerian artistes in their individual and collective capacities and have indeed contributed more than any known institution to the promotion of Nigerian music and the development of the entertainment industry as a whole.”
However, in his reaction, 2face attributed the action to corruption and greed of BON members.

According to him, “Corruption greed and wickedness is simply what is behind the music ban on air.  How can well meaning people sabotage their own. GREED! You want to make chocolate, but you don’t want to pay for cocoa. Let the music play”
